SEED PRODUCTION

Producing high quality registered seed is a specialist enterprise, requiring precise attention to detail to ensure seed crops are of the high standards expected by our seed production partners. Green Partnership has been growing lucerne seed since the 1940’s. Our business grew the first bulk up block (33 acres) of Aurora in 1986. Green Partnership are specialist producers of lucerne seed, pasture seed and cereal seed. Our farming practices offer an opportunity to produce weed free seed crops as part of our crop rotations.

The combination of seed production with other cropping enterprises works well, as we can capture the benefits of weed control at different stages of the crop rotation process.

Lucerne seed production complements the hay production enterprise well.

Following a lucerne crop, which usually lasts for four years, we grow a cereal seed crop. This enables us to capture the Nitrogen that the lucerne has provided, plus allows our seed production to be of the highest standard, with no contamination of cereal seed.
